One example is the rise of Discord(and other precursors) has created a phenomenon of lobby games. It usually fulfills a need, such as social interaction in the Internet age, that we don't necessarily relate traditionally with gaming. But whenever I think about playing single player game I always end up launching some online game like MTGA, PoE, LoL (not playing it really anymore) or anything else. The strange thing is I liked the games, its not that I think they are weak or not entertaining. I even bought PS4Pro because I wanted to experience the Uncharted serie and TLoU or Horizon but from all the games I get for the console I installed only Horizon and played for maybe 5 hours max. I have alot of games in my steam and other launchers that I wanted to play but actually never get past starting zones (like Skyrim and many others). Then W3 came out and same story happened. When Witcher 2 came out I instantly bought it, tried to playthrough first one before starting the sequel and could not play longer than 2h. Simple example, I have whole The Witcher serie but I could not even finish first game when it was released and I love Witcher universe (I read the books multiple times). ![]() I bought ALOT of games that I wanted get through to see the story but I'm unable to just play them for some reason. It could be Baldurs Gate, GTA 3, Warcraft 3 or whatever I liked at the time.īut after trying for the first time online games like WoW and later online ARPGS like PoE or even card games like MTGA I cant really get into single player games anymore. Some were short, some longer but I just liked the storytelling without interupting it with another game. So years ago I could easily stick to a single player game and finish it without trying another one. ![]()
